Ok, so I do promise to share more pictures from Malawi and Zambia, but I am doing a Bible study with my "big sister", Maryann, and there was a verse today that kind of rocked me...nothing that we all haven't heard before probably, but I read it in a different way and was excited about the things God pointed out to me, so I wanted to share my thoughts with you all. Maybe it will get you thinking like it did me.
"Through him and for his name's sake, we received grace and apostleship to call people from among all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith" (NIV) Romans 1:5
Here's the thing, we all talk about God's grace that was shown on the cross through Christ's sacrifice, it is beyond understanding, it is incredible, it is what saves us...but what about apostleship? Paul talks about them together, grace and apostleship, as things we have received. God saves us through his grace, but that's not the only gift. We receive an identity in Him as apostles. I think often when we talk about our calling as Christians we sometimes look at it as a duty, and in some ways, maybe it is, but its also an amazing privilege, a gift from God that came to us through Christ on the cross. He has given us, he's given me, the opportunity to go out and show others His redeeming love, to call them to a life of obedience through faith. Maybe it seems obvious to some, but this was a bit of a "wow" moment for me today. I was completely humbled and thankful that our Almighty would choose to give me the chance to help build His glorious Kingdom.
